Hello there belas pessoas!
My life is so happy! Síster Sperry is such a wonderful person and we are laughing all day long. I am so very blessed to be with her for at least this one transfer. I am learning a lot and changing into the person I really want to be. We must be doing something right to be receiving so many little blessings from the Lord and to have so much alegria. The Lord is taking care of us.
The highlight of the week was definitely Clarisse. She is doing so great! She had a stroke last year and lost all feeling in her legs so she can only use a wheelchair and also crawls around her tiny house. But she is one of the best examples of strength to me. She takes care of her two netos almost everyday, and they are a riot. I have never seen kids so disrespectful. She takes care of them while their mom works even though she can hardly move around her house because she has such love for them and trusts in the Lord so much to help her. She is reading the Livro de Mórmon more than any other investigator I have ever had and prays multiple times daily. This week SHE QUIT SMOKING!!! She was really anxious and nervous about it but now it has been a few days where she has gone completely smoke-free. She came to Church again this week for the second time and looked absolutely beautiful. It is truly a testament to me that the way to overcome any addiction or trial in general is simply to live the gospel. She is doing all the steps and all the same things that we tell everyone, but her life is truly changing in large ways because she is living what we teach. With the help of God all things truly are possible, even if you have no money and no transportation. We still have a few commandments to teach and with General Conference this weekend will be pretty crazy, but if all goes well she should get baptized the week after! I love Clarisse so much and want to see her life completely change with this more than anything else right now. What an inspiration she is to me!
The ward is helping out a lot right now as well. We had a small ward activity this week to integrate our investigators (that Clarisse went to!) that went really well, and there are lots of people willing to do divisions and give rides (GIVE RIDES TO THE MISSIONARIES!! I know most of them have cars in the states so it is probably a little different, but I cannot tell you how much I appriciate rides when we need them or rides for our investigators. It means SSSOOO much to us. If your missionaries ever ask for a ride, please find a way). Irajá seems like a very happy ward to me and they are so kind and accepting to us. I never knew how much the members influenced the life of a missionary. Truly know who your elders or sisteres are and try to love them like your own kids! They are someone else´s kids far from home and truly depend on the members for support. I know you will be hugely blessed if you help the missionaries. You will be happier and have a sense of fulfillment in your life like you never did. I want to be a completely different member than I was when I left when I get home. There is SO much you can do to help. Maybe this Sunday you can go up and ask the elders what you can do this week to help them out. Knowing which members are open and willing to help goes a long way. They will remember and will use you.
Anyhow, enough of my big rant, everything is going just swell. The days are floating by in bliss. Ok, so life is still hard, it always will be as a missionary, but it is so rewarding and I am feeling great. Healthwise I am tired like always but feeling good and strong without any real problems at all! What a blessing. Síster Sperry is doing well as well except for her foot. She fractured something in her foot a week before the transfer so she is feeling a bit of pain these days. We don´t know exactly what is wrong but have another consulto médico next week so hopefully they have answers for us! We are praying lots and did a special fast this week. Pray for my companion this week!
Thanks for all your love and support for me! I am really feeling my prayers answered and am seeing the power of your prayers in my life as well. Keep going to the temple and receiving all of the blessings of the gospel. Oh how I want to go there! Enjoy Conference like you never have before as well. I CANNOT WAIT! This is one of my favorite weekends of the year. Vou aproveitar.
Love you lots!
Síster Marchante

P.S. I received a wonderful package from you this week mom! Thank you sssssssooooo much!!! You send me exactly everything that I need. You guys are so wonderful.
P.P.S. I wish I had could write all of the belo details of my life but I am spending lots of time writing to the Presidente these days (it´s always editted, I don´t send all of it) and writing in Portugues is still a little slower than english. Thanks for reading all the way down there!

A minha vida é tão boa e abençoada.
Obrigada Presidente por seu tempo!

Hello President!
I honestly think I have never been so happy in my mission I even my life. I have had several experiences happier, but have never been so happy for so many consecutive days. Life is great !! For the first time I feel like my work is sufficient and that the Lord is happy with my work. We have many things to improve and our numbers are not much different, but with Sister Sperry are very calm and happy all times. Never got even close to fight or have problems. I love my companion.
This week we visited Trough. I went on divisions with Sister Sousa while Sister Sperry went to Sister Auna. It was very good. The Sister Sousa's happier and have more confidence in it herself. You can see the love the two have for each other, and have very good attitudes of work. The Sister Sousa has a very calm and pure spirit and brings much to the lessons. She is very quiet, but at the end of the division she opened further and had a very good conversation. I think the conference areas was very good for them because she sure does not feel good about their own efforts. We are trying to do more to meet our sisters and best friends to be with them. I think that often the sisters (especially younger) see division as a time when we will only fix and judge. They should never feel judged or they may not work as usual, as if they have to show us. We are working to teach and train with love and gain their trust first so that they feel the urge to talk to us when they have difficulties or questions. I think it worked with both Sister and Sister Auna Sousa. We are here to love and help!
Our area is well. Members are VERY helping, especially with our researcher Clarisse. She is wonderful! She officially stopped smoking! He made a few days now and we will continue to monitor closely so it does not fall again. We love her very much, and she accepts everything we teach. She needs the light of the gospel in her life, and is seeing many wonderful changes in your life because of it. She is a very great example to me of strength within difficulty. I want to be more like it is.
Everything is good here besides the foot of Sister Sperry. We rested a few times this week (but probably not enough), but is not changing much. The Sister Brum scored a new doctor consult. I think the worst part is just not exactly know what the problem is specific. We are using too much ice and rest at least an hour before lunch often. We also made a special fasting this week. However, the Lord is blessing us in MANY other way and we are seeing many tender mercies daily. My life is so good and blessed.
President Thanks for your time!

Hello fam!
Life is so wonderful out here in the great Ribeirão. I love my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we have been starting up here again with a new transfer, new goals, and a new vision. Síster Sperry is absolutely wonderful. I know it has only been one week, but so many great things are happening already. We are working really well together and are seeing tiny miracles every day. We have some fun plans for the Sísteres this transfer and are very excited to get started. Síster Sperry and I have a very similar sense of humor so we are laughing all day long and the days just float by. We were super great friends back when we lived in the same house in Campos Elíseos, and now it is quite a joy getting to know her better. She is a wonderful missionary and teaches super well. She has such a calm jeito and makes me want to be my very best. This is going to be a wonderful transfer.
We are teaching Lucila and Clarisse a lot now. They are doing really good and seeing the way the gospel is changing their lives in many ways. They are both reading the Book of Mórmon every single day (which is really rare here in Brazil) and seeing the blessings of the scriptures. We are starting to help both of them on the process to quit smoking right now so they have a huge challenge to overcome agora, but they are excited and doing their part. I´ll keep you updated on how they are doing.
We also gained a present of having the assistentes be assigned to our ward now. We now have three duplas of missionaries which is really helpful because our area is big. We are only working in two bairros agora and don´t have to travel by bus 20 minutes to Centro anymore. It is great because we are working with a few people in each place but find it difficult to try to move from bairro to bairro in one day. Now we will be staying mais in João Rossi and Bonfim. Em fim, life is good and will be more simpler now.
I feel like this week passed in a blur. It was really great and the work is easier now. I feel like I am able to follow the Spirit better now than ever before. We had a neat experience yesterday where we were knocking just a few specific doors before going to a FHE (which turned out really great. I love the members here! Doing a Family Home Evening with a friend and the sisters is such an easy, SUPER effective way to share the gospel. You should try it!). A senhora opened the door and we saw there was a tiny party going on. The first thing she said was, "do you want some cake?" She didn´t even know who we were, but you never deny someone offering to come in their house as a missionary, so we went right in and eat coconut cake to our hearts content (she also gave us a bunch to take home to the other Sísteres in nossa casa). It was the birthday party of her nine-year-old grandson. The family was super nice and we have an appoitment to come back next week. It was another testimony to me that following the Spirit in every situation is so important. We are leaving all the hard work to the Lord and just reaping the results of listening to the Spirit. Missionary work is easy when you don´t have to do anything but follow what someone else is telling you to do! Síster Sperry is teaching me that the only thing that really matters is your relationship with the Lord and with your companion. If He and she thinks you are enough, that your goals are right, and that what you are doing in each situation is certo, then you can have confidence in yourself and be happy every single day. This is going to be a very happy transfer.
Thanks for all you do fam! Love ya
Síster Marchante

P.S. Hey mom, a member in our ward gave a request for dill flavoring. I don´t know what kind of recipe calls for that, but could you see if you could find a little bit and send it my way? Thanks so much!

Hello President!

My life is too good to be true. I love Sister Sperry much! Never been so happy as I was on my mission this week. It's like having a happiness now that did not know existed. Sister Sperry is so quiet and we are similar in many ways. Never estressamos. I know it was only a week, but for the first time in my mission I feel like my best is enough. We are never in a hurry, we can make many more Coias in the little time we have. This transfer will be wonderful.
We are working with two more researchers now: Clarisse and Lucila. Both have great faith and are learning faster than they think. Both are working to overcome smoking. Are easy to find at home, and are already seeing a number of ways that the gospel is changing their lives. I love these women so much and am excited to see them change their lives completely.
The foot of Sister Sperry is more or less. It's weird because one day is good and the next day is worse, but you never know why or what causes it worse. We are working more slowly, however, and it is open to me when you really feel pain. And trust in each other, so we talked a lot as we are and what we need. One day this week, Sister Sperry had much pain so we stayed at home and made a sanctification by this transfer. We also made many plans for our sisters. We are very excited to work with them more and be more present in their lives. We are doing more fun things like call during the day with situations or jokes to earn your trust, we are here to be their leaders but also friends. We are very blessed to have so many wonderful sisters in this mission. I love working with them.
The sisters in Trough are starting well. They are organizing all this week with new companions and seem animated by this change. Sister Souza has a birthday today, and we will make divisions with them tomorrow to have a party. Everything okay there in quiet Trough.
Jaboticabal doing ok and the wing is helping a little more now. Sister Sister Carrera and Smith are happy and getting well. Let's give a speech for all our sisters about overcoming difficulties. Come next week probably, and I think the speech is much help. It is of Elder Wirthlin, "Come What May, Enjoy". Loved this speech, and we want the sisters can really apply it in their work. I think that most sisters are too difficult to be with them. We want them to be their strong points and really love this work. I'm learning to love it more than any time before with Sister Sperry. The Lord is blessing us greatly, and we are enjoying every moment.
Thanks for the great advice this week. Always really like advice and learn a lot. It is a great blessing to serve here in this mission now. Thanks for everything!

What just happened?
Trasferências are here! After nine months juntas Síster Hoggan is officially leaving for the States. I cannot believe the time went so fast! I will be here for another few transfers that I am sure will ZOOM by as well. Sabe por que? I am staying here in Irajá! Woooo! Mais um pelo menos. And...I am companions with Síster Sperry!!! WWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I could not believe the news. If I could choose transfers exactly how I wanted I would choose to stay here and be companheiras with the one and only Síster Sperry. I love her so much! I don´t know if you remember her but we passed Christmas togeher lá em Campos Elíseos. I have been dreaming of being companions with her since then. God has blessed me so much with transfers so far and I am stoked for these next few weeks. We are going to have so much fun and work super hard. One of the best things about being a Síster Treinadora is that you always have the best companions. We will also be living with Síster Jales again! It is really good to see her again and I know we will be able to help each other a lot. Sister Sena also ficou, which I am SUPER excited about. I love her to death. She is hilarious and makes me super happy all the time. This is going to be a very happy house and a very excellent transfer. I am ready to work hard.
Yesterday we visited Campos Eliseos again for Síster Hoggan to say goodbye to everyone. It was super fun and great to see everybody. The best part was visiting Analia. We baptized her the very last day we were in Campos Eliseos. She is absolutely adorable. She is getting old and has the beginnings of Altzheimers now, but she remembered us super well. We taught her from the beginning to the end. This week she said she was completely planning on going to church in the morning, but then started doing things and completely forgot until later and felt really guilty. She is so sweet, and we told her that God looks on her heart not on her mind. She is actually also moving to another city nearby so I will probably never see her again. It was so hard to say goodbye! I love her to death and felt very loved in her tiny home as well. If I changed anyone´s life in this country it was Dona Analia. I will never forget walking away from her gate and waving until the end of the street late last night. She is going straight to the Celestial Kingdom.
We found dear Clarisse again this week. We had taught her the Restoration about a month atrás, but then she was remodeling her apartment so we couldn´t go back for a month. We had kindof given up on her, but decided to go back one more time. She is amazing. She had been reading the Book of Mormon this whole time and still wants to learn more. She is almost always em casa então it will be really easy to find and teach her. She came to Church this Sunday! (see details below). I have never seen a mulher so beautiful and changed in my life. She cleaned herself up so well and looked like an angel when we went to pick her up. I really hope she and her family will continue to let us help her change her life.
I am excited to keep going strong! I love this place and I love being a missionary. Keep living the gospel strong and tell me lots of news!
I love you tons,
Síster Marchant

Olá Presidente!
Uau.
Obrigada,
Síster Marchant

Hello President!
Wow. What a great weekend! I am much blessed President! It was hard to see Sister Hoggan out. I now know better than anyone else in the world besides my family. Basically we are family now. I love her and I know she served until the end with a lot of power and honor. I will always be a missionary and different person because of it. Thanks so much for so long that we had together.
I'm Sister Sperry! Is this real life? I'm so excited. I love her already and I know that is transferred will be very happy with many miracles. It will be great to be with her at our home in Irajá. She has a huge heart and will help many people here, especially Jales Sister and Sister Sena. Thank you for this opportunity to learn it and work hard. She is worried about her foot, but take care of her the best I know. Also everything will be great, I are very excited to begin working together here.
This week was a little different to Hoggan help Sister finish and pack up to leave. Do not work so hard, but we still miracles. The best part was that our researcher Clarisse visited the church for the first time! Saturday night everything was falling and no one was in the church, and prayed for a miracle too. Heavenly Father surely heard my prayer. Clarisse walks wheelchair and does not like to leave, but Sunday morning she called and wanted to go! We arrange a ride real quick and she got there beautiful. She liked it and noticed that was different than any other church she has visited. She has many difficulties still to overcome (as the Word of Wisdom), but she is reading the Book of Mormon too. We are animated by it!
Thank you,
Sister Marchant

Subject: Changes are aqui!

Wow,
Things come to an end way too fast. This is Síster Hoggan´s very last week! I can´t really imagine my mission without this girl. She is such a great missionary and will be greatly missed. She completely changed my mission around and helped my to learn so many important things about missionary work and about life. I now know how to teach all of the lessons, know better how to be a leader, and have gained my confidence back, among other things. I attribute nearly all of my happiness in this country to her and her example of unfailing commitment to the work of the Lord. I hope to always have companions like Síster Hoggan until the very end!
The highlight of the week for me (actually, there are always lots of highlights) would probably be yesterday when I played piano for this Restoration fireside. Presidente Brum and Presidente Pires (our Presidente da Estaca) gave an awesome fireside basically just giving discursos of the first lesson. It was super great and I learned a lot. In the end I played that Joseph Smith Medly solo. love playing piano because it is my way to bear my testimony loud and proud. That song gets pretty big in the end and I was able to sing out to everyone how much I believe in the Restoration and the power of the prophets. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he truly organizou the Church of Jesus Christ de novo na terra. His life, like the Savior´s, is an example of patient perserverance that we should strive to follow. I want to share this message with the world, that we have living prophets, starting with Joseph, and can rejoice in the message of the gospel. There is no place I´d rather be right now than Ribeirão Preto spreading this good news!
Life is good and always busy. There are always more things to do. I love the rigid missionary life and want to keep myself so dedicated to something always even after the mission. We are seeing so many small blessings and tender mercies from the Lord. The last thing Síster Hoggan and I always do before going to bed at night is share one tender mercy we saw in our work that day. I am so grateful for all that the Lord is helping us with and am seeing His hand in our lives daily. What a blessing it is to serve the true and living God every day of your life.
Love you all tons!

Hello President!
This week was full of service projects. We had the opportunity to help someone in the ward move, help with an application to the MTC in Provo, and ironing for a researcher with back problems. Can not teach as much as we wanted, but we made many other important things. The last will was wonderful too! Thank you for your speech and testimony. It is interesting that whatever how many times I have studied the Restoration, I am always learning new things about prophets, especially Joseph Smith. I love this gospel and the way we can always progress and improve. There is no limit to knowledge! I was very happy to play the piano again yesterday too. I really miss the piano, and relaxes me a lot, even if only some minutinhos. I love music! Thank you for this opportunity to play.
Trough also visited this week. Sister and Sister Shipp Vaneza are doing very well and resolving conflicts. They have much desire to do what is right and like to work. I went with Sister Jales. Our day was very good. It was super good for me to see her again in a different light. I learned a lot when he was with her. Sister Jales is beautiful and fantastic. She has so much to offer. We had many lessons together and made many contacts. Practice how to make contacts to find new best prayer. Was successful, and if they can go out every day and follow these new, I think they will see many miracles. We will continue to call and pray much for them, and I know that with the Lord they will get well.
The rest of the week was quiet. I love being here with Sister Hoggan to the end. She is a wonderful missionary, and is always helping me to be better. It will be very difficult to say goodbye to her! I love Sister Hoggan and I am VERY grateful for so long I had to stay with her. We'll stay close friends for the rest of our lives. What a blessing she is in my life.
Have a great weekend,
Sister Marchant

Hello there fam!
I hope things are going great and are very cold where you are. Eat lots of vegetables and stay chilled for me. I miss those things.:) This week we have met some very interesting people. We started out with one of the best Restauração lessons de minha vida. We met a man named Rafael and his girlfriend Maria. She wasn´t very interested, but he was super interested and super inteligente. He understood everything perfectly, especially about apostasia and the need for a Restoration. When we asked him if he would pray to know it is true he looked at us directly and imediately said "Yes!" (in english). We invited him to get baptized and he said that he totally would when he gets an answer. We kind of had to rush out of there because Maria was getting impatient but we were super excited to go back and teach him again.
So we went back on Saturday and Maria answers the door. She says "nope, we´re busy, we already have a religion and don´t want to talk to you mais." Rafael is trying to talk to us in the background but we don´t get a chance to get his phone number or anything because Maria closes the door too fast. We are pretty sad about this one because Rafael really is an elect! I could see him getting baptized in two weeks if we had the chance to teach him. But, he has our number and one day he will remember us and call again. It was a good experience to see someone understand the first lesson so well and to be so excited about it. That is how I wish every first lesson would go in the beginning. He for sure is reading the Book of Mormon right now.
We also met another Maria yesterday. We were looking for alguns ex-pesquisadores in João Rossi when we made a contact with a Senhora Maria. She has back problems and mentioned that she had tons of things to do like ironing and making dinner and other chores. We were like, "well great! Lets go do your ironing for you" She resisted at first, but Síster Hoggan and I are really good at pushing our service on people, so we were able to go in and iron a bunch of clothes. It is crazy what Brazilians iron. Basicamente every single article of clothing that they have! I have never ironed jeans in my life but I learned how pretty well yesterday. I love ironing so it was really great for me and we had an opportunity to talk to her for a long time. She basically told us her life story. She had a horrendous childhood and said she has never felt what real happiness is like in her life. She said she had seen us entering her prédio to visit another family (Alesandra) várias vezes and had a good feeling about us. We were able to really bear our testimonies of the power of the Atonement yesterday and how there are wonderful, happy blessings waiting for her to discover. I am very excited to keep teaching her and think it will be easier to find her em casa. She is really needing the gospel in her life right now and will be able to see a new world through the teachings of Jesus Christ.
We as missionaries have so much to offer. I never realized how much knowledge we have in this Church. We know SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOO much about this life and the purpose of life and about our Heavenly Father. He has given us so much proof and so much explanation for everything that happened and will continue to happen. I love how everything in the gospel fits together so well. There are so many details and blessings from the true doctrine of Christ, and all of it fits together so well. Each commandment and teaching compliments the next and there are no contradictions at all in the gospel of Jesus Christ. This HAS to be His true Church! Where else can you get every single question of your life answered? There is no need to fear anything! God is in such control and will always take care of us. No matter what happens, everything will work out for our good in the end when we keep our faith focused on the Savior. I know that He lives and continues to lead His Church in righteousness. He is the only thing that matters. I love Him with all of my heart and want to do what He asks. I have many things to improve and change still, but I know that with Him, my tiny all can be enough.

Com um MONTE de amor,
Síster Marchant

P.S. Te amo muito muito muito pais:)

Bom dia Presidente!
Obrigada Presidente,
Síster Marchant

Good morning Chairman!
That baptism beautiful! Kunkel and Sister Sister Sena had a baptism of a single man this week was perfect. Do not know if I ever saw anyone so elected Jovelino. He does not understand the whole doctrine perfectly and does not read well, but he has great faith in the Lord and know the important things well. He wants to do anything possible to follow the commandments of the Lord. Help during baptism and many Sundays when he goes, so I know a little. Jovelino will bring much happiness and light to this wing.
We visited the sisters in France this week. I went out with Kelly and Sister Sister Sister Hoggan left with Palomino. They are great. They had some baptisms recently from a very strong family. They have many other researchers beyond them now then Sister Kelly and I used a long time to find new ones. I felt the Spirit stronger in the division and felt guided to ready homes. We entered many new homes through slamming doors, but not only beat all ports. We walked up a street feel that a house was right there and hit. We found many really nice people, and I'm excited to hear them progress. Sister Sister Palomino Hoggan and used a long time to update the book area. This is something that means a LOT to me. In the house all the sisters I always show my love for the book area, and help to fix or change something if needed. I love the Book Area! If you do nothing else when you leave an area, my book will be very beautiful area. Sister Sister Kelly and Palomino are very quiet and work well together. They have some difficulties with the work (for example with the ward and find new ones), but they can win together. See much peace and happiness in their home. I think the two will continue to be rocks for the mission.
We had a very chic family home evening with a couple in the ward (Brother and Sister Windor Girlaide) which was very excellent. Members were perfect and welcomed our researcher immediately. I want to be a member as they are when I am not a missionary.
We are excited to next week because we know that miracles are bound to happen. We prayed and fasted and know that the Lord will help us win researchers who will progress. This area has so much potential.
Serve with love the people here! The other sisters and ward members are wonderful. I hope it continues to be so good here!
Thank President,
Sister Marchant
